LED Lighting Cardiff
LED lighting planned around the room rather than the ceiling grid, with dimmers that actually match the fittings.

LED Lighting Installation In Cardiff
Planned Properly, Dimmed Properly
We plan lighting in layers and pick the colour temperature to suit the room, which is what separates a job you are pleased with from one that feels like an office. For commercial premises, the same work is usually about running costs and the end of climbing up to change tubes.
Our LED lighting services include:
- LED downlight installation and replacement
- Fire rated downlights for upper floors
- Halogen to LED conversions
- Under cabinet and kitchen lighting
- LED strip and cove lighting
- Dimmer replacement for LED compatibility
- Commercial panel and batten lighting
- Warehouse and industrial high bay LED
- External and garden LED lighting
- Sensor and daylight controlled lighting
Everything is tested on completion and certificated where the work calls for it.
Thinking About Upgrading To LED?
Six downlights in a kitchen or a full warehouse relamp, no job is too big or too small for our electricians.
LED Lighting Across Cardiff & Nearby
Cardiff-based, so if a fitting fails inside its warranty, we come and change it rather than posting you one.
We fit LED lighting across the whole city and out into the Vale.
High Victorian ceilings and low modern ones need completely different fittings and beam angles, so the design starts with the room rather than the fitting.

Getting LED Lighting Right
Colour, Dimming And Fire Rating
Three things decide whether you like the result. Colour temperature first. Around 2700K to 3000K is warm and suits living rooms and bedrooms. Cooler 4000K suits kitchens, bathrooms, garages and workspaces. Mixing them in one open plan room looks wrong and it is the most common regret we get called back about.
Dimming second. An old rotary dimmer built for filament lamps will make LEDs flicker, buzz or refuse to go low. The dimmer has to be a trailing edge type matched to the load, and there is a minimum load below which nothing works smoothly.
Fire rating third. Any downlight cut into a ceiling that separates storeys has to be fire rated, because you have just put a hole in a fire barrier. That is not optional and it is the thing most often missed on jobs done without an electrician.
Where a ceiling is coming down anyway during building work, that is the time to plan the lighting rather than after the plaster has gone on.
Commercial LED Upgrades
Running Cost, Maintenance And Lux Levels
For a business the case for LED is usually made on two numbers rather than one. Electricity is the obvious saving. The one people forget is maintenance, because replacing fluorescent tubes in a warehouse means hiring access equipment, and LED fittings that last years remove that job entirely.
We upgrade lighting in offices, shops, warehouses and industrial units across Cardiff, and we plan the work around trading so you are not shut for it. In an office the design also has to hit sensible light levels for screen work rather than simply being bright.
Sensors and daylight control are where the further savings sit. Corridors, stores and toilets do not need to be lit all day, and a warehouse with rooflights often needs far less artificial light than it is running.
Where the existing distribution or emergency lighting is affected we handle that at the same time, including any emergency fittings that need replacing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our LED Lighting FAQs
Why do my LED lights flicker when dimmed?
Almost always the dimmer. Older rotary dimmers were designed for filament lamps and will not run LED smoothly. A trailing edge dimmer matched to the load fixes it.
What colour temperature should I choose?
Warm, around 2700K to 3000K, for living rooms and bedrooms. Cooler, around 4000K, for kitchens, bathrooms and workspaces. Try not to mix them in one open plan room.
Do downlights need to be fire rated?
Yes, wherever they are cut into a ceiling separating storeys, because the hole breaches a fire barrier. It is the thing most often missed on work done without an electrician.
Can I just swap the bulbs for LED myself?
Often yes for a simple lamp change, though older fittings with transformers can be fussy. Where fittings are being replaced or ceilings cut into, that is electrician work.
